At A2, your Arabic moves beyond the here and now. You learn to say what you did yesterday, what you do every day and what you'll do tomorrow, using the past, present and future tense of Form I verbs. As in Level A1, the focus is on speaking and understanding Levantine Arabic. Every grammar point also shows the Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) version, so you can learn to read written Arabic alongside.
It follows on from iMasterArabic Level A1. All Arabic is written in Arabic script, so make sure you can read the alphabet.
What you'll learn to do:
● Shop at the market: ask for ingredients, amounts and prices
● Ask for and give directions, using prepositions of time and place
● Talk about your studies and what you did, in the past tense
● Describe people and things: colors, clothes, accessories and how someone feels
● Talk about your free time and daily routine in the present tense
● Talk about your family and describe the people in it
● Make plans with the future tense
Along the way you learn collective and countable plurals, how verbal sentences are built, conjunctions in Levantine Arabic and MSA, the use of qad (قد(, the gender of words, non-human plurals, and the dual and regular plurals of nouns and adjectives. You also read a text about Karim and listen to Fairouz's song "ana la-habibi".
At the back you'll find a list of regular Form I verbs and an alphabetical vocabulary list. When you finish, you're at A2 level on the CEFR. Next comes Level 3 (A2/B1).
The audio recordings and answer keys (PDF) are available as a download with the book, so it works well for self-study.
