This is the level where you move from getting by to really expressing yourself. You already handle everyday situations. Now you learn to say what isn't so, compare things, describe what's going on around you, and talk about the news. Every grammar point appears side by side in Levantine Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), so you keep speaking the dialect while your reading of written Arabic grows.

It follows on from iMasterArabic Level A2. All Arabic is written in Arabic script, so make sure you can read the alphabet comfortably.

What you'll learn to do:

● Say what isn't so, with the full system of negation in MSA and Levantine Arabic

● Talk about the Arab world: countries, nationalities, seas, the weather and politics

● Compare things and people: bigger, the biggest, as… as, and your favorite

● Say what someone is doing, was doing or is about to do, using the active participle the way Levantine speakers do all the time

● Link ideas with relative clauses ("the man who…", "the book that…")

● Name professions, colors and sounds with the masdar (verbal noun)

Along the way you learn the broken plurals of nouns and adjectives, hollow and defective verbs (with lists of the most common ones), definite and indefinite sentences, and the masdar patterns with their case endings.

For A2 learners who read Arabic script and want to reach B1. If you've finished Level A2, this is your next book. After it comes Level 4 (B1/B2), which covers all ten verb forms. At the back you'll find an alphabetical glossary and a list of the most common verbs used as active participles.

The audio recordings and answer keys (PDF) are available as a download with the book, so it works well for self-study.
